FUN FACTS
- Episode recorded on the 16th of September 1985
- This is the first episode in the series, hence the first appearance for all vehicles, M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. agents and civilians
- No origin story is given or even hinted in this episode, with very little in subsequent episodes keeping fans postulating to this day
- The sequence of Dusty Hayes dropping a pizza when he gets the call from M.A.S.K. is used again in the episode Solaria Park
- Sharon Noble the voice actor for Gloria Baker and Vanessa Warfield and only voiced Professor Stevens in this episode
- The piece of space debris featured in this episode is consistently referred to as a "meteor", technically however the Deathstone is a meteorite. A meteor is a piece of space debris that has entered the atmosphere. A meteorite is the term for a piece of such debris which has survived the trip through the atmosphere and impacted on the ground
- Episode debuts an early animation version of Bruce Sato's Lifter mask effect, with green blue bubble instead if the yellow rings
- There are also two separate cuts of this episode. One where the drivers are mirror imaged to allow them to appear as they are driving on the right side, most likely for the UK markets
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO HMMMM
- After the "UFO" steals the meteor from the crash site, Cliff Dagger is seen holding a remote control, indicating he was guiding the UFO with it. Later on in the episode back at V.E.N.O.M HQ the "UFO" Shell is seen with Switchblade within it. So why did Cliff have to control Switchblade with a remote instead of it being flown by Miles?
- Professor Stevens is wearing a radiation suit when she escapes in a jeep and is seen to retrieve a video tape from her camera. V.E.N.O.M. causes her jeep to crash into the water. She later wakes at Trakker Mansion where she is dressed in her civilian outfit which is dry and the videotape is in her pocket of her jacket. Why didn't her clothes get wet, or who changed her into dry clothes? The Knights Book adaption attempted to fix this in their novelised version.
